For Tectonics 2014 Vernon & Burns will attempt CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Radiophonics) – a composition for Fetal Doppler, CPR training aid and found tape. Condition: not serious, unstable.

A new radiophonic work commissioned by Tramway, Glasgow. A live soundscape constructed from interviews with a number of different people about their dreams and sleeping habits, readings from Burns' longstanding dream diary and accompanying sound effects and music. The piece explores the internal space of the subconscious and the logic of dreams. 

Part of a triple bill of performances also including Lisbeth Gruwez | Voetvolk and Zoe Irvine and Pippa Murphy.

A listening session for cows , played on a simple turntable and removable loudspeaker which took place in a pastoral landscape reminiscent of old Flemish paintings. The title comes from the Vernon & Burn's record, played during the performance, which is also an English expression taken from an old rhyme:

"There was an old man, and he had an old cow,
But he had no fodder to give her,
So he took up his fiddle and played her the tune -
`Consider, good cow, consider,
This isn't the time for the grass to grow.
Consider, good cow, consider."

A field-performance realized on june the 20, 2009 at 4:43 am , near by : 50° 14' 24.05" N 4° 53' 31.22" E (East-Belgium)

New LP 'Lost Lake' on Shadazz Records

Lost Lake sees the return of the collaborative project between radio art duo Vernon & Burns (Mark Vernon and Barry Burns) and Lied Music (Luke Fowler and John W Fail). It is a sequel to the long-sold out LP Lied Music vs.Boy-Band Tax Returns (released on Ultra Eczema, 2006). This LP merges musique concrète compositional approaches with absurdist improvisational strategies. The album showcases their tendencies towards primitive melodies with dissonant underbellies, carefully sculpted into liminal narratives. A series of sporadic improvised sessions using a diverse array of sound-making instruments (amplified toys and objects, guitar, analogue synths, percussion, squeeze box, field recordings and found tapes) were subsequently manipulated, tortured and caressed, both individually and collectively, into a series of highly idiosyncratic song-forms and sound collages.
